Hello and happy Friday! My list of three things on Friday grew to five this week … we’ll see how this series continues. I do love recapping things that I’ve seen/heard/read/experienced in the last week. I think it’s a fun way to encapsulate what’s happening week by week. Without further ado, five things for Friday …
MY LOVE FOR JANUARY
Most people may feel like January is 95 days long, but I actually love it. It’s a long stretch after a manic marathon. It brings me a new year, reasons to celebrate (and grieve), but most of all, to remember that life is absolutely a gift and it’s all around us. Today I’m a little sad to see it go. Until next time, January!
AN ARTICLE ON LANGUAGE BY BRENE BROWN
“Dehumanizing always starts with language.” It was a great read that made me consider the weight and power of words, and how loosely we sometimes fling them into the world and at others.
THIS IS US: A HELL OF A WEEK, S4 E12
“This place still makes me sad, but I’m not afraid of it anymore.” I was BREATHLESS when I finished this week’s episode of This Is Us. What way that Justin Hartley’s character, Kevin, has progressed continues to amaze me. In fact, the now four different people who play Kevin at various ages and their cohesion is an amazing delight. The way This Is Us continues to the journey of grief, showing how it ripples out for decades in both big and quiet ways is a comfort. It’s like a friend saying, I understand. I’ve been there.”
A QUOTE FROM SHAUNA NIEQUIST
I want to write these words everywhere. Memorize them. Write them on the inside of my eyelids.
SPRING FASHION
I fear I am going to be powerless in the face of spring fashion. I’m here for the soft colors, I want to dive into white denim, I want dresses upon dresses upon dresses. And, as an added bonus, I’m considering a trip to Paris in April and as a result every spring-type item I survey has to run through the litmus test of “How would this look sitting in Place des Vosges? Walking through the Marais?” And spoiler alert? Everything looks 20% better in Paris. Here are a few favorites from Madewell’s first spring push.
You guys, this bag. It is SO good. And the print comes in several sizes. (Budget tip: Target’s Universal Threads as a VERY similar print in several purse styles.)
Do not underestimate the power of basics — I often overlook them for big wonders like denim jumpsuits and plaid blazers, but they are the powerhouse of a wardrobe.
I don’t even like clogs and I am all the heart eyes for these!
The perfect oversize graphic tee for spring.
These pants all summer long … with sandals, platform wedges, heels … all the ways!
Such great spring colors for bandanas! Plus, they have a heart one I’m eying for February.
Again with the basics – they are down to play all day, every day.
Really starting to dig the quilting trend. This jacket is a lovely color.
