Do you ever have weeks where you keep hearing the same message over and over again? Like all the forces of the earth are uniting to lay a message at your feet? It feels silly and impossible that all the world would gather itself to tell you something, but I don’t think God is beyond it. Last month I had one of those weeks. The message came rushing in and I felt the Holy Spirit blow past me. The whoosh of its movement made me lift up my head, pausing for a second to listen. There’s always a choice in these moments: Do I lift up my skirts and run after it, grabbing the hem of its garment to ride along for what’s to come? Or do I put my head back down and get back to what I was doing. Often, I choose the latter.
This day though, I chased … and part of that chase was listening to an interview that I stumbled upon featuring the inspiring, smart, gifted, dear human Shauna Niequist. I’ve gone back to listen to this again — twice — and want to leave it here for you too.
Here’s to running after those great gusts when they come blowing through our days.
