It feels like life has been moving in a fierce flurry lately.
New job + old job + friends + family + small group means that I’ve been rushing from one things to another as best as I can and somehow we’re here: Thanksgiving Eve.
This holiday season is a turning point for my family. Having welcomed a new generation while saying goodbye to another, we’ve entered altogether new and uncharted territory. Things are different – a fact that even if no one says it out loud all weekend or season, will be on everyone’s mind at one point or another.
And that’s okay.
It’s okay because there’s a baby to hold. There are stories to be told and heard. Food to be made and shared. Time to be quiet and rest. Time to be together and time to pull back. And while different will be the word that bubbles to the surface from time to time, blessings and love and grace are what we have to share and offer one another. Stories of how His love is currently filling our every day lives are what we have to remind each other that there is something far greater going on than just us.
So, no – there’s no need to cover up the different. Just the need to not let it cover us up.
Then sings my soul, my Savior God – to thee. How great thou art. How great thou art.
Safe Thanksgiving travels, my friends!
