I’ve never quite been able to put my finger on it, but for the longest time I haven’t been interested in traveling to Germany. Austria? Yes. Switzerland? Most definitely. Scandinavia? Just tell me when. The country of cities like Berlin and Munich however, just doesn’t hold the same spark. That is, until I recently read about the Grimm Trail.
Named for literature’s famous brother-team who penned most of the fairy tales we know today, the route runs from Hanau in central Germany to Bremen in the north. The trail not only traces the lives of the brothers, but even better, the places that served as inspiration for their stories including Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella and Snow White. The 370-mile trail also runs through eight nature parks and numerous medieval towns – which all together helps put the country in a softer, imaginative light. Now high-up on my wanderlust list, I can’t wait to one day follow the trail. How once upon a time would that be?

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
