Let’s recap: we know Santorini has ridiculous sunsets, resplendent views and lovely towns. And now the beaches? Intriguingly diverse.
The black sand covering…Black Beach (did you see that coming?) was drastically different from any sand I’d ever seen. The rock walls looming above gave the area a very Lost feel, but the rainbow collection of lounge chairs lightened the scene.
Reaching Red Beach, located at the island’s south-end, requires an adventurous spirit. First stopping at a beach lunch stand, we made our way along a ridge with the ocean to our left and red rock to our right. Climbing down a hill of loose rocks and breaking earth, a few slips and trips helped us down to the water’s edge. But once we were there, the nearly deserted beach was ours.
